The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards associations that has established the requirements for quality management systems. The primary intention is achieving customer satisfaction through control of the manufacturing process and prevention of nonconformity at all stages, from production planning and receipt of raw materials through the shipment of finished product. Conformance to this standard is considered an essential to compete in worldwide markets.
